Port Albert offers many opportunities for anglers of all types.
For adventurous & experienced boaties willing to take a trip through the entrance will be rewarded with some good seasonal catches of Gummy Shark, Snapper, Kingfish, and sometimes Tuna.
The inshore waterways within the confines of the local islands are a safe option for those looking for a more relaxed day on the water with quantities of Flathead, Whiting, Squid, Snapper, Pinkies and Gummy Shark.
Use our new 4 berth boat ramp, floating pontoons to support all sized boats and kayaks all supported by a large trailer parking area with boat wash down facilities and fish filleting stations.
Land based anglers can enjoy the serenity of the three separate jetties while watching the world go by. With easy parking and access to local food stores and public toilets. The catch can vary, but you can also add Garfish & Leatherjackets to the local catch list.
With the 90 mile beach only a 30 mins drive, a spot of surf fishing could also be considered with easy access from Woodside Beach.
And if the fish don't bite, you can grab Gippsland's best food and coffee from that varied local food stores while the kids play in the local playground.

Ask the locals for tips on top fishing locations that include, The Entrance, Blue Hole, Snake Channel, Basket Beacon, Kearneys, and the upper Albert River. It's mouth, called Old Port, produces snapper, with flathead and whiting the usual catch.
Fishing in Gippsland is terrific with the easy access, all tide entrance to the sea ensures keen fisherman fast access to open waters of Bass Strait for larger game fish.
Four Berth Boat Ramp
Port Albert’s modern four-berth boat ramp, equipped with all-weather access and floating pontoons, offers a convenient launching and retrieval site for vessels of all sizes, from large boats to kayaks.
The pontoons are fully lit for safe night use and feature fish cleaning stations with running water, making it easy to fillet and pack your catch on ice right by the water. This setup ensures a quick, clean process, with waste returned directly to the sea.
Boat Ramp Trailer Parking
The Port Albert Jetty offers convenient access to a spacious parking area accommodating around 100 vehicles with both large and small trailers.
A circular drive-through design ensures smooth traffic flow, even on busy days. Anglers benefit from fresh water taps for washing down boats and gear after a day on the water.
Centrally located with ample overhead lighting, the boat ramp and parking zone are clearly visible to local residents, enhancing security for cars and trailers, day or night.

Port Albert Fishing Club
The Port Albert Fishing Club was formed in 1992 and has grown into a strong, active club with own clubrooms in Victoria Street, Port Albert. The Club is affiliated with VRFish and the Gippsland Angling Clubs’ Association.
All members and their guests are welcome to attend meetings and participate in Club activities, including our monthly competitions. There are no entry fees for competitions, and details are circulated to members via the monthly newsletter. We include junior categories for all club competitions.
The Club welcomes new members and both single and family memberships are available. A membership form is available below.
