After over 18 months of hard work and dedication from our PAPA volunteers, we are proud to say that the Visit Port Albert website has grown immensely, attracting over 150,000 visitors and generating 5,500 page clicks in the past year alone.

This platform was created with four key goals in mind:

  1. Promoting local businesses.

  2. Increasing tourism to the area.

  3. Being a source of information for residents.

  4. Improving the experience for visitors to Port Albert.

Now, with the launch of the Search Accommodation page, we're taking another step toward achieving these goals.

What Makes the Search Accommodation Page Special?

This new feature has been designed to make it easy for visitors to find the perfect place to stay in Port Albert.

With a simple search and filter function, users can quickly browse accommodations based on type and the number of rooms available, ensuring they find lodging that meets their specific needs.

But it’s not just about convenience for visitors. The Search Accommodation page provides local businesses a valuable opportunity to increase their direct bookings, cutting out costly third-party booking fees.

Here’s How It Works

The Port Albert Search Accommodation page has two levels of functionality to suit the needs of local accommodations who may or may not have access to third-party booking platforms.

  • Standard Listings are available to PAPA Business Members for just $45/year, ensuring your accommodation is featured in the searchable table.

  • Featured Listings offer premium visibility for an additional $99/year, including a prominent image card, business details, and a prominent page location. With only 10 featured spots available, it's first come, first served!

As Robert Durrant, Visit Port Albert Website Administrator explains, “For a minimal annual fee, this new service can significantly reduce businesses’ reliance on third-party booking sites, bringing more direct traffic to their own websites and increasing revenue.”

Port Albert Holiday Rentals - A Central Hub for Visitors & Locals

The Visit Port Albert website is more than just a promotional tool - it’s become a central hub for visitors and locals. From learning about Port Albert's rich history and exploring local events to discovering the best fishing spots, the site now provides a wealth of information.

The response to the site has been overwhelming,” says Mr Durrant. “It’s become a fantastic platform for promoting local businesses, visitors, and bringing the community together.”

Supporting PAPA and Building Resilience

Port Albert, like many small regional towns, faces challenges when it comes to funding.

PAPA membership fees are kept low to ensure everyone can participate, and they form part of a revenue model that helps PAPA remain resilient, reducing the need for constant fundraising efforts by over-stretched volunteers.

About PAPA

Port Albert Progress Association (PAPA) has been representing the community since 1880. Run by a volunteer committee, they are supported by members consisting of residents, local businesses, and service organisations.
